Mikara and Chris Pettman originally opened fascination street
in September of 1995, on Birch Avenue, in the heart of 100 Mile
House. Without having a focus, Mikara and Chris stocked everything
from posters to t-shirts, incense and jewelry, comic books to
Magic cards. For 100 Mile House, fascination street was a funky
alternative store. Fascination street also housed many eclectic
pieces of art from the local community in the back of the store.
This portion of the store came to be known as “the fascination
street gallery”, and even had the pleasure of hosting the Central
Interior Regional Art Council traveling arts Show as well as helping
with various local projects such as the X-treme art show. A decision
had to be made when the Pettman duo realized that they were about
to become a Pettman trio. Sadly, the doors to the original fascination
street closed on July 30th, 2000. The Pettmans missed their family
of customers and friends, so when the littlest Pettman was ready
for playschool, the couple made the foray back into retail. “fascination
street toys & games” re-opened September 16, 2004. With Alora’s
input, the Pettmans decided to create “the street” as an awesome
toy store for children of all ages. Mikara and Chris enjoy searching
for creative and unusual games and toys to delight all ages. Many
of the products carried at fascination street reflect the owner’s
philosophies, with many products emphasizing education, creativity,
quality, and overall fun. So if you are looking for high quality
name brand educational toys, classic party games, or the hard
to find item, drop in and see the gang at fascination street…”go
play in the street!”
